Carnforth Miscellany

Unmistakeably a former cinema building, now the Co-operative!
Pugh, Pugh, Barney McGrew, Cuthbert, Dibble and Grubb. No it's not Trumpton, but the Carnforth Fire Station.

Looking up a shaded Market Street.
The Carnforth Bookshop. Truly a book lovers paradise.
The clock above the Sizzle In takeaway.
Colourful entrance to Booths supermarket.
Unusual view of some of the shops in Market Street.
Carnforth War Memorial.

One of the murals on the wall at Carnforth railway station.
And another.
The murals were painted by the students from the Lancaster and Morecambe College.
Old and new signalling here at the north end of Carnforth station, including the original and long closed signal box. The line going straight on heads for Barrow-in-Furness, whilst the one curving to the right goes to Skipton and Leeds.
No visit to Carnforth is complete without a visit to my favourite pub in the area,  The Snug Micropub at the station. This cat image is one one of the walls.
A quite superb beer to drink as well, all the way from the Black Isle north of Inverness.
Colourful bar towels. (pic - Lynda Braithwaite).

  1. Some nice shots and an interesting place. Lots of old shops (and new) to photograph. Booths must be a northern chain as we used to get our groceries from the one in Windermere when in the lakes. I rather like the name of "Moore & Wife"!!

  2. Booths are indeed a North West chain, and excellent supermarket they are too.
